Zumtobel presents Porsche Design luminaires
Fascinating, technically refined lighting objects
Dornbirn/Stuttgart. From 18 - 23 April, Zumtobel Lighting GmbH & Co. KG, a supplier of innovative lighting solutions with its head office in Dornbirn/Austria, will present the Porsche Design domestic luminaire collection for the very first time at Euroluce in Milan. The luminaires stand out thanks to their intelligent lighting technology, high level of functionality and high-grade materials. Movement and dynamism underscore the lofty design aspirations of these exclusive lighting objects. At Euroluce, two product lines, each including a desk and a free-standing luminaire, will be launched.
Porsche Design P´7111 desk luminaire and P´7121 free-standing luminaire both impress not only in terms of technical details and high-grade materials but also because of the lighting scenes they produce in the room. The desk luminaire's innovative highlights include its well thought-out kinematics and advanced LED lighting technology which have never before been deployed in this form in a desk luminaire. The crucial design feature of the luminaire is its two-arm joint configuration that allows flexible, parallel movement of the lighting head. The luminaire features cordless low-voltage power supply through its aluminium sections and joints. Its innovative high-tech side is evident in its powerful LED lighting head which is teamed with tried-and-tested Zumtobel reflector technology and makes the luminaire extremely energy-efficient. The P´7111 Pan Desk Lamp is the first luminaire in the Collection and will be available starting May 2007 through Porsche Design Stores throughout Europe. Starting August 2007 it will also be available in the United States. The recommended retail price is 1,800 Euro.
The P´7121 free-standing luminaire is an ingenious triple-function unit – it can brighten up the ceiling, provide highly atmospheric wall lighting and can also be used as a reading light. A crucial design feature is also the way the luminaire moves: its lighting function depends on the angle of the luminaire which can be pivoted thanks to a joint. When the luminaire is extended vertically, only the ceiling flood illuminates the ceiling with up to 300 Watt of halogen light. When the upper part of the luminaire is tilted forwards, the light outlet automatically swivels into the right position to provide a convenient reading light. The luminaire’s dimming function is another technical highlight: a built-in lateral slide control makes it possible to dim the light intensity and obtain an optimum balance between ceiling light and reading light. Besides the brushed anodised aluminium sections of the housing, the luminaire’s striking black base plate with a rubberised finish is another visually appealing feature.
With an angular basic structure reminiscent of a channel section, the P´7112 desk luminaire almost gives the impression of being a solid object in the room. The distinctive feature of this exclusive luminaire is its extendable linear lighting head. Like the P´7111 desk luminaire, this luminaire also uses innovative LED lighting technology. It produces an asymmetrical cone of light which can be adjusted to the left or right depending how the luminaire is positioned at the workplace. The purist, geometrical design of the luminaire and its high-grade refined galvano-coated surface finish are also visually attractive.
The matching P´7122 free-standing luminaire with its sleek aluminium housing is a motor-driven luminaire which has an extremely wide range of possible uses and fascinating kinematics. When the luminaire is switched on, the motor opens the entire column and the light emerges. The luminaire has an internal ambient light as well as a dimmable high-voltage halogen ceiling floodlight. The mat internal surface of the column acts as a reflector for the ambient light and reflects the light onto the wall. The luminaire boasts a timeless modern design and its light output and colour temperature can be adjusted. The colour temperature of the ambient light is automatically synchronised with dimming. This makes it possible to stage various lighting scenes.
