PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series TIME:OUT – The Freeride Ski for The Perfect Line
Since 2021, skiing legend Aksel Lund Svindal and Porsche’s chief designer Michael Mauer have been working together to find the perfect line – in Porsche cars and skiing. The result: a freeride ski newly developed by Porsche and HEAD, the PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series – the ski for the perfect line and the much-needed TIME:OUT off-piste, which is so important for both.
Mauer & Svindal and Their Long-Cherished Dream
Porsche’s chief designer Michael Mauer and skiing legend Aksel Lund Svindal share not only a love of skiing, motorsport, design and performance, but also a longing for something special. Both are always looking for the perfect line. With the PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series, they continue their unique synergy and realize a long-cherished dream: Together, the two masters of their craft have developed and designed an unprecedented free-ride ski that embodies all their expertise. A ski that optimally combines the know-how from automotive and ski construction.
The PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series is the perfect ski for all freeriders.
TIME:OUT – Off-piste Skiing
In close cooperation with Porsche and HEAD, a work of art on snow was created that not only represents the perfect line. With every single turn, the ski also conveys the feeling of freedom and shared passion. TIME:OUT plays a decisive role in this.
„Breaks are extremely important in the creative process,“ says Michael Mauer, Head of Style Porsche. „Creativity thrives on impressions and impulses, a conscious antithesis to everyday life. I like to spend a lot of time in the mountains. These breaks give me the necessary distance and help me sort out ideas.“
Aksel Lund Svindal also has more time for relaxation and reflection after his active career. “ Both of us like to spend our downtime off the slopes, powder skiing in remote places and left to our own devices“, explains Aksel Lund Svindal. With the PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series, they have an agile, versatile and fun free-ride ski at their side that combines a unique feeling for them: perfection in theory and reality.
Unique Construction & Exclusive Design
For this limited edition in exclusive Porsche colors, HEAD has used the sustainable materials rattan and flax for the first time. Natural fibers that are produced in agriculture and are not interfering with any food cultivation are also used in Porsche motorsports. For example, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR, which competed in the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Compared to conventional plastics, natural fibers have an ecological advantage: 85 percent less CO2 is generated during the production of the fibers than in the comparable process for carbon fibers.
The PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series has no top sheet, allowing a view into its interior and revealing the natural fibers used and thus creating a fascinating connection between aesthetics and technology. With its innovative construction and sporty design, the ski is perfect for the perfect line – on and off the slope.
The ski designed in Austria is available in lengths of 184 and 177 cm. With a length of 184 cm, the ski has a sidecut of 131 – 106 – 127 mm and a radius of 17.8 m. The recommended retail price of the PORSCHE | HEAD 106 Series is priced at 1,700 Euros.
